Job Title

Principal Design Engineer, Pathfinding

Role Summary

Member of Micron's Pathfinding Design Team responsible for defining array architecture and designing analog, basic digital, and mixed-signal circuits for advanced memory technologies (DRAM and emerging memories). The role focuses on concept development, circuit simulation, optimization, and floor planning to enable new memory solutions.

Experience Level

Senior — requires substantial experience. The posting specifies 8+ years of relevant semiconductor and IC design experience.

Responsibilities

Work across concept development, simulation, and on-silicon validation to advance memory technology designs.

  • Develop and optimize Memory/Logic/Analog circuit designs, including layout considerations.
  • Perform circuit modeling, sensitivity analyses, and validation using industry simulators.
  • Design on‑silicon test chips and lead tape‑out revisions.
  • Coordinate with layout teams on floor‑planning, placement, and routing.
  • Execute verification procedures using modeling and simulation tools.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Demonstrated experience in mixed-signal, digital, or analog IC design and development for volatile or nonvolatile memory technologies.
  • Must-have: Proven IC design experience with regulator, charge pump, oscillator, current reference, bandgap, and comparator circuits.
  • Must-have: Experience with circuit modeling and simulation using SPICE and Verilog.
  • Must-have: Strong communication skills with experience collaborating across large organizations (8+ years described).
  • Must-have: Experience leveraging AI tools to enable automation in design flow and documentation (examples cited: co-pilot, Claude).
  • Nice-to-have: Exposure to circuit debugging in collaboration with other engineering teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Proficiency with UNIX and the Cadence design environment (simulation, schematic entry, SPF extraction).

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is specified. The posting requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant semiconductor manufacturing experience. Preferred: MSEE with 8+ years of post‑graduate mixed‑signal or analog IC design experience. (Degrees and experience requirements summarized from Minimum and Preferred Qualifications.)
