Job Title
Principal Design Engineer
Role Summary
The Principal Design Engineer will join the Analog and Mixed‑Signal design team on a die‑to‑die product development program, owning analog/SerDes circuit design from specification through verification.
This role requires close collaboration with layout engineers, technical leads, and global teams to deliver high‑speed D2D and SERDES IP on leading semiconductor process nodes.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 8 years of CMOS design experience, preferably with SERDES or high‑speed I/O IC design.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Design high‑speed die‑to‑die (D2D) and SERDES products at industry data rates on advanced nodes.
- Develop analog/mixed‑signal IC blocks from concept and specification through verification and silicon evaluation.
- Collaborate with layout and physical design teams to implement PMA sections and circuit blocks.
- Work with technical leads on circuit design decisions and SERDES architecture tradeoffs.
- Coordinate with global teams across time zones for design reviews, verification, and delivery.
Requirements
Must‑have technical skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in CMOS SERDES or high‑speed I/O IC design (analog/mixed‑signal).
- Solid understanding of jitter, signal equalization, and high‑speed signaling techniques.
- Design experience with SERDES blocks such as driver, receiver, serializer/deserializer, phase interpolator, low‑jitter PLL, high‑speed clock distribution, bias/bandgap, and voltage regulators.
- Proficiency with CAD tools for circuit simulation, layout and physical verification.
- Strong problem solving, analog design aptitude, and effective communication/teamwork skills.
Nice‑to‑have:
- Experience with Cadence toolflow.
- Design experience at >10 Gbps and on sub‑16 nm technologies.
- Lab test and silicon evaluation experience.
Education Requirements
BEng, MEng, PhD or equivalent degree; equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
