Job Title

Principal Design Engineer

Role Summary

Senior RTL/SoC design engineer responsible for integrating IPs, developing subsystem microarchitecture and RTL, and collaborating with verification, performance and power teams to meet system KPIs. The role works on SoC subsystems used across IoT, Automotive, Client and Infrastructure domains.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting does not state explicit years-of-experience guidance.

Responsibilities

The role combines subsystem microarchitecture, RTL development and system-level integration with verification and PPA analysis.

  • Understand incoming IPs, interfaces and interworking with subsystem and SoC components.
  • Develop subsystem microarchitecture specifications and deliver RTL implementations.
  • Review and contribute to verification test plans; debug and fix issues uncovered in integration.
  • Work with performance and power analysis teams to evaluate and improve system KPIs and make PPA trade-offs.
  • Run design checks and resolve issues across CDC, RDC, X-prop, lint and UPF flows.
  • Propose refinements to IP teams based on system-level integration and use cases.
  • Support and guide team members and coordinate with Project Management on plans and schedules.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and proven delivery in RTL subsystem design. Preferred items are listed separately.

  • Experience in digital hardware design and Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Detailed understanding of methods and techniques for complex SoC development.
  • Experience with static design checks including CDC, RDC, X-prop, lint and UPF.
  • Experience creating design specifications and using verification methodologies.
  • Proven delivery record of sophisticated RTL subsystems within reasonable timescales.
  • Ability to analyse and navigate high-level PPA trade-offs and drive development in areas of ownership.
  • Experience with synthesis, timing analysis and power management techniques.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with ARM-based designs or ARM system architectures.
  • Knowledge of AMBA protocols (AXI/ACE-Lite/AHB/APB/CHI) and processor, interconnect, security or PCIe subsystems.
  • Familiarity with Perl, Python or other scripting languages.
  • Relocation package and visa sponsorship support available for candidates who require it.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
