Job Title
Principal Design Automation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead NAND circuit development in the NVE Design Engineering organization, focusing on design automation, circuit-design enablement, and improving design cycle time and quality for NAND memory solutions.
Collaborate with circuit designers, verification, layout, and cross-functional teams to integrate schematics, run simulations, and deliver automated flows that support manufacturability and testability.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting specifies 8+ years of relevant NAND design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Drive NAND circuit development through design automation and circuit-design enablement.
- Implement Xpath, Ypath, and Array designs and integrate core schematics into full-chip schematics.
- Validate block- and chip-level performance and functionality using industry-standard simulators.
- Design and validate analog and mixed-signal circuits (charge pumps, op amps, DACs, ADCs, etc.).
- Act as a technical authority resolving complex issues involving circuit behavior, modeling, and simulation methodology.
- Develop AI/LLM-assisted flows for circuit design, including environment setup, guided simulation, and automated checks.
- Integrate automation with project execution and collaborate with circuit designers and other teams to reduce cycle time.
- Work with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, testability, and customer requirements are met.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (education summarized separately):
- 8+ years of relevant NAND design experience with knowledge of NAND Flash memory algorithms.
- Proven analog and mixed-signal circuit design and layout experience.
- Strong fundamentals in semiconductor physics and device/reliability issues.
- Experience in circuit verification, optimization, and layout planning.
- Experience with analog and digital simulators and verification flows (examples: HSPICE, Verilog) for block- and chip-level simulations.
- Proficient in Python for engineering automation and EDA tool integration; familiar with Cadence tools and UNIX environments.
- Experience developing automation or AI-assisted design flows is a plus.
Education Requirements
MS in Electrical Engineering required; PhD preferred.
