Principal Data Center GPU Performance Architect

Role Summary

Lead software engineering efforts to improve performance of AI models and agentic workloads on AMD data-center GPUs. Work within a core team of architecture and software specialists to analyze, debug, and optimize platform- and rack-level performance across hardware and system software.

Responsibilities

Deliver measurable performance improvements across GPUs, system software, and multi-node deployments; support hardware bring-up and collaborate with architecture teams.

  • Identify and prioritize performance bottlenecks at GPU, node, and rack levels using data-driven analysis.
  • Debug complex system-level and multi-node communication performance issues.
  • Design and prototype software and firmware improvements to improve throughput and latency for AI workloads.
  • Participate in new ASIC and hardware bring-ups and post-silicon performance validation.
  • Develop tooling, profiles, and diagnostics to reproduce and measure performance regressions.
  • Collaborate with architecture specialists, hardware engineers, and software teams to inform future product designs.
  • Maintain technical relationships with peers, partners, and cross-functional teams to drive optimizations into products.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with low-level GPU performance optimization (must-have).
  • Proven ability debugging complex system-level software and multi-node communication/performance bottlenecks (must-have).
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills; C/C++ preferred (must-have).

  • Familiarity with development tools such as debuggers, profilers, and source control (GitHub) (preferred).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills (must-have).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
