Principal Chip Lead

Role Summary

Lead the architecture, design, verification, and productionization of advanced power management ICs for high-frequency, high-density applications. Work cross-functionally to deliver chips from concept through mass production and mentor engineering teams.

Experience Level

Senior β€” expects 12+ years' experience in power IC design with prior chip/project lead experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for the chip lead role.

  • Own top-level chip design and verification; define partitioning and drive the design flow to meet schedule and quality targets.
  • Architect and design power management IP blocks and controller architectures.
  • Supervise IC floorplanning and layout development.
  • Lead chip bring-up, bench characterization, debugging, and design fixes.
  • Develop test programs, qualification plans, and support transfer to mass production.
  • Mentor team members and transfer technical knowledge across the organization.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and proven leadership experience.

  • 12+ years' experience in power IC design, including switching converter power stage and controller architecture.
  • Chip/project lead experience (led 2+ projects) and managed teams of 5+ engineers.
  • Transistor-level analog circuit design experience (e.g., references, amplifiers, filters, PLLs, ADCs, regulators, sensors, DACs, protection circuits).
  • Strong knowledge of device physics and deep sub-micron/FinFET processes.
  • Proficiency with Cadence design and verification tools.
  • Strong project management, ownership, organization, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.

Education Requirements

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering (position specifies an advanced degree in EE). 12+ years of relevant power IC design experience is expected.
