Principal Chip Lead
Role Summary
Lead architecture, design, verification, and productionization of advanced power management integrated circuits on advanced FinFET processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-frequency, high-density power converters for AI processors and data-center applications.
Serve as the technical chip lead responsible for top-level design, project schedule, IC bring-up, and transfer to production.
Experience Level
Senior-level β typically 12β15+ years of experience in power IC design with demonstrated chip/project leadership.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Own top-level IC architecture, partitioning, verification strategy, and schedule adherence.
- Design and review IP blocks and communicate design intent to the team.
- Supervise IC floorplan and layout development activities.
- Lead initial bring-up, detailed bench characterization, debugging, and design fixes.
- Develop and support test and qualification plans to enable mass production.
- Coordinate with hardware, firmware, test, and manufacturing teams to deliver products.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 12β15+ years' experience in power IC design, including multiple chip/project lead roles (2+ projects) and managing teams of 5+ engineers.
- Proven track record delivering analog power ICs from concept to mass production and working to customer requirements.
- Experience designing switching converters, including power stages and controller architectures.
- Transistor-level circuit design experience in one or more areas: bandgap, precision voltage/current references, variable gain amplifiers, continuous-time filters, PLLs, ADCs (Flash, SAR, sigma-delta), voltage regulators, temperature sensors, I/O blocks, DACs, sensing and protection circuits.
- Strong knowledge of device physics and deep sub-micron/FinFET processes.
- Proficiency with Cadence design and verification tools.
- Strong project management, organizational skills, sense of ownership, and effective verbal/written communication.
- Required travel: approximately 10%.
Education Requirements
MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering (analog/power emphasis) explicitly stated.
