Job Title
Principal ATE Test Engineer
Role Summary
Senior individual-contributor test engineering role responsible for defining and driving ATE test methodology, production test strategy, and test hardware design for power-management and analog/mixed-signal products. The role combines hands-on test development with cross-functional leadership to ensure product quality, manufacturability, and test cost efficiency.
Experience Level
Senior — typically 12+ years of experience in test engineering for analog/mixed-signal or power management ICs.
Responsibilities
Define and lead test strategy and ensure production readiness across new product development and volume manufacturing.
- Lead end-to-end test strategy definition, test plan development, and ATE hardware design.
- Define and drive adoption of DFT approaches and best-in-class test methodologies.
- Develop ATE programs and fixtures for production (experience with COHU DMDX, DXV, Accotest).
- Optimize test time, coverage, and cost for manufacturability and production release.
- Lead root-cause analysis, yield-improvement initiatives, and data-driven investigations.
- Collaborate with Design, Product Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams globally.
- Provide technical leadership in customer escalations and quality investigations.
- Mentor and train test engineers to grow team capability.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and skills for successful performance in this role.
- 12+ years' test engineering experience for analog/mixed-signal or power-management ICs.
- Proven expertise in ATE test development and production test program delivery (COHU DMDX/DXV, Accotest).
- Strong knowledge of DFT techniques, test coverage analysis, and production flows.
- Experience with complex product bring-up, debug, and production ramp.
- Advanced data-analysis and statistical methods for yield optimization.
- Deep understanding of ATE instrumentation, signal integrity, and hardware design constraints.
- Experience debugging analog and mixed-signal systems, including serial interfaces.
- Programming skills (C/C++; Python is a plus).
- Ability to work independently, provide technical leadership, and communicate across global teams.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field required; Master’s degree preferred.
