Principal ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead technical authority for ASIC/VLSI verification across projects within the business unit. Provide architecture-level guidance, set verification methodologies, and drive decisions that affect product directions and time-to-market.
Experience Level
Level: Senior. Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for verification strategy, technical leadership, and cross-team coordination.
- Define organization-wide VLSI verification architectures, methodologies, and standards.
- Review and evaluate designs for compliance with technology and development guidelines.
- Provide technical leadership and accountability for multiple project teams and external partners.
- Influence executive decisions on technical direction, cost efficiency, and product features.
- Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers and help select future technical leaders.
- Identify emerging VLSI technologies and recommend new projects or programs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and leadership attributes; preferred items noted where applicable.
- Deep expertise in VLSI verification, digital logic, and computer architecture.
- Proven track record of technical leadership on complex ASIC/VLSI projects.
- Mastery of verification languages, programming/scripting, hardware description languages, and EDA/FPGA tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive-level communication skills.
- Experience influencing cross-functional teams and external development partners.
- Preferred: history of innovation such as patents, publications, or technical presentations in VLSI or hardware design.
- Preferred: familiarity with Agile methodologies, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field β or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or background in VLSI design and verification is expected.
