Principal ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification architecture and methodology for ASIC/VLSI projects across multiple platforms within the business unit. Provide technical leadership, review complex designs, and influence product and process decisions to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of silicon solutions.
This role is hybrid with an expectation of approximately two days per week in the Durham, NC office.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities focus on technical leadership, design/verification strategy, and mentoring.
- Define organization-wide VLSI/ASIC verification architectures, methodologies, and best practices.
- Lead and review complex VLSI designs and verification activities for compliance with standards and cost/time targets.
- Provide technical leadership and accountability across multiple project teams and influence executive and partner decisions.
- Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers; contribute to selection and development of future technical leaders.
- Identify and evaluate emerging VLSI technologies and recommend new projects or programs.
- Represent technical work externally through publications, presentations, or standards contributions as required.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, leadership abilities, and other hiring preferences.
- 10+ years of experience in VLSI/ASIC design and verification or equivalent experience.
- Deep knowledge of digital logic, computer architecture, and VLSI principles.
- Proven experience with verification methodologies and tools; strong skills in hardware description languages and EDA/FPGA tool flows.
- Proficiency in programming and scripting for verification automation.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience mentoring engineers.
- History of innovation such as patents, publications, or technical presentations is preferred.
- US citizenship preferred (stated by the employer).
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Coursework or background in VLSI design/VLSI concepts is expected.
