Principal ASIC Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Lead verification architecture, methodology, and execution for ASIC/VLSI projects across the Global Business Unit. Provide technical leadership, review designs, define verification strategy, and mentor engineering teams to deliver complex integrated-circuit solutions.
Work focuses on improving verification quality, time-to-market, and technical direction for multiple projects and product lines.
Experience Level
Senior β typically requires 10+ years of relevant VLSI/ASIC verification or design experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define organization-wide VLSI/ASIC verification architectures, methodologies, and standards.
- Lead technical direction and verification strategy for multiple projects and platforms.
- Review and evaluate VLSI designs and verification activities for compliance with technical and development guidelines.
- Provide technical leadership and accountability across project teams; influence executive decisions and outsourced partners.
- Mentor and guide less-experienced engineers and participate in selecting future technical leaders.
- Identify emerging VLSI technologies and assess their impact; propose new projects and programs.
Requirements
Must-have:
- Extensive experience in ASIC/VLSI verification and digital logic design at scale.
- Mastery of verification methodologies and EDA tool flows (simulation, testbench development, metrics).
- Proficiency with hardware description languages (e.g., SystemVerilog/Verilog) and scripting/programming (e.g., Python, Tcl).
- Proven track record of technical leadership on complex projects and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- US citizenship preferred (due to program/export/security needs).
Nice-to-have:
- Patents, publications, or prior technical presentations in VLSI/Electronic hardware design.
- Experience with FPGA tools, high-level architecture verification, or formal verification methods.
- Experience participating in standards bodies or defining industry standards.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field β or equivalent practical experience. Background or coursework in VLSI design or related topics is expected.
