Principal ASIC Engineer (Reliability & Hardware Validation)

Role Summary

Lead reliability engineering and hardware design validation for next-generation semiconductor and networking products. This role sits on the Cisco Hardware Engineering Team and focuses on product/process qualification, high-power and high-speed board validation, and cross-discipline design-for-reliability activities.

Hybrid role based in San Jose, CA, working with eCAD, FPGA, power, mechanical, signal integrity and manufacturing teams to ensure product integrity and compliance with industry reliability standards.

Experience Level

Senior β€” 10+ years of professional experience in semiconductor reliability and/or high-speed hardware design.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing reliability qualifications and leading hardware validation efforts for high-power networking products.

  • Define and execute product and process qualification plans for high-power solutions.
  • Develop and run HTOL, Burn-In, and stress-test programs; manage reliability suppliers to meet schedules.
  • Lead hardware design, schematic development, and board-level validation for service-provider routing products.
  • Perform failure analysis and produce detailed qualification and reliability reports.
  • Collaborate with eCAD, FPGA, power, mechanical, signal-integrity, and manufacturing teams on design-for-reliability and compliance.
  • Provide technical documentation and support for customer quality and reliability requirements.

  • Must-have: Proven experience developing and executing high-power HTOL/Burn-In test programs for advanced-node products.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with high-speed network interfaces and board-level design and validation.
  • Must-have: Strong knowledge of JEDEC, AEC, and Telcordia reliability standards.
  • Must-have: Experience with high-speed measurement equipment, automated test development, and HTOL setup; proficiency in data analysis and debugging.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Cadence Allegro and similar PCB/layout tools.
