Job Title
Principal ASIC Design Verification Engineer - Terawave
Role Summary
The Principal ASIC Verification Engineer defines verification strategy and leads verification activities for high-performance ASICs and SoCs used in Blue Origin's TeraWave satellite communications program. The role coordinates verification across design, architecture, firmware, and systems teams to ensure robust signoff for complex communication hardware.
Primary mission: ensure functional correctness and verification signoff for complex, high-performance satellite communication silicon.
Experience Level
Senior β requires extensive industry experience; minimum 12+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience.
Responsibilities
Lead verification strategy and execution for complex satellite communication ASICs/SoCs.
- Define end-to-end verification strategy and signoff criteria across block, subsystem, and SoC levels.
- Establish verification methodologies, infrastructure, regression automation, and reusable VIP and reference models.
- Plan verification for modem pipelines, FEC engines, digital beamforming, packet processing, and control fabrics.
- Evaluate verification completeness using coverage, assertions, formal analysis, emulation, and silicon correlation.
- Resolve critical technical issues and lead root-cause analysis for complex functional failures.
- Drive alignment among design, architecture, systems, firmware, and validation teams.
- Mentor technical leaders and raise overall organizational verification maturity; influence tool strategy and roadmap.
Requirements
Must-have qualifications and skills.
- 12+ years of ASIC/SoC verification experience leading verification for complex chips or multiple tape-outs.
- Expert-level knowledge of SystemVerilog, UVM, assertions, and verification signoff methodology.
- Strong understanding of communication signal-processing hardware and system-level integration.
- Proven technical leadership and strong cross-organizational communication skills.
- Experience with coverage-driven verification, formal analysis, emulation, and silicon bring-up correlation.
- Ability to define verification infrastructure, automation frameworks, and reusable verification IP.
- Must meet employer export-control eligibility (citizenship/immigration requirements apply per employer policy).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with space-based communications, digital modems, phased-array or payload processing.
- Familiarity with fault tolerance, radiation-aware verification, or mission-critical reliability.
- Experience with architectural modeling and verification planning for hardware/software partitioned systems.
Education Requirements
BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (stated as required in the posting).
