Role Summary

The Principal Applications Engineering Consultant leads FPGA prototyping evaluations, deployments, and technical customer engagements within Siemens EDA. The role partners with customers, Sales, Marketing and R&D to define requirements, execute complex prototyping tasks, and influence product capabilities.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with application engineering and customers to plan and execute FPGA prototyping evaluations and ongoing technical support.
  • Act as technical interface to customer engineers and managers to define requirements and optimize prototyping and CAD workflows.
  • Execute complex prototyping tasks: bring-up, partitioning, synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure, and debug.
  • Deploy and integrate FPGA prototype systems across hardware and software environments.
  • Apply and improve data exchange and interoperability across tools and platforms.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and R&D to align customer needs with product direction.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, demonstrations, and documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and operate independently on complex engagements.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in FPGA prototyping or related fields.
  • Extensive knowledge of VLSI and digital design.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of large-design partitioning, multi-FPGA routing, timing closure, and debug.
  • Experience interfacing with low- and high-speed peripherals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex technical issues and provide actionable feedback.

Nice-to-have: experience with CAD tool interoperability and prototype system integration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electronics Engineering (specified in the posting).
