Principal Applications Engineer - SerDes IP
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership and hands-on support to customers integrating Synopsys SerDes 112G/224G IP into ASIC/SoC products. Resolve integration, verification, timing, and silicon bring-up issues while working with cross-functional teams.
Develop application notes and training, perform integration reviews, and relay customer feedback to R&D to improve IP and deployment.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires 10+ years of industry experience in IP design, ASIC/SoC integration, or related customer-facing engineering roles.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include:
- Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for integrating SerDes 112G/224G IP into customer SoCs.
- Conduct integration reviews and troubleshoot RTL simulation, synthesis, floorplanning, timing closure, and silicon bring-up issues.
- Support silicon bring-up and system-level characterization in lab environments.
- Document best practices, develop application notes, and deliver customer training.
- Collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams to relay customer feedback and improve IP.
- Occasional travel to customer sites for on-site support and system bring-up.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- 10+ years experience in IP design, ASIC/SoC integration, or customer-facing engineering roles.
- Solid understanding of ASIC design flows: simulation/verification, RTL synthesis, floorplanning, physical design, and timing closure.
- Hands-on integration and validation experience with high-speed SerDes IPs for PCIe and Ethernet.
- Proficient in RTL and gate-level simulation debugging; familiar with tools such as Design Compiler, Fusion Compiler, and PrimeTime.
- Experience with silicon bring-up and system-level characterization in lab environments.
- Signal and power integrity knowledge is a strong advantage.
- Excellent communication, organization, and customer-facing skills; able to manage multiple projects and tight schedules.
Education Requirements
Master's degree preferred (posting specifies "Masters with 10+ yrs of industry experience") or equivalent practical experience; exceptional candidates with strong silicon debug and academic backgrounds will be considered.
