Job Title
Principal Analog Mixed-Signal Design Engineer
Role Summary
Member of the Optical / Broadband Analog group responsible for design and validation of high-speed optical front-end ICs, primarily multi-tens-of-GHz transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) and related broadband analog circuits. The role includes hands-on circuit design, microarchitecture of major blocks, and technical leadership of a design team.
Work supports AI and hyperscaler data-center connectivity by improving bandwidth, capacity, and power efficiency of optical interface chips.
Experience Level
Senior β typically 10β15 years of industry experience for candidates with a Bachelor's degree; 5+ years for candidates with an MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include circuit design, technical leadership, and cross-functional product development.
- Lead active circuit design and provide technical leadership for high-speed analog/RF products.
- Design transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) and related equalizers, primarily in SiGe BiCMOS and CMOS technologies.
- Develop transmission-line and millimeter-wave structures to extend bandwidth and performance.
- Design broadband analog blocks (linear regulators, AGC loops, current/voltage sensors, bandgaps, etc.).
- Define microarchitecture of major circuit blocks and guide implementation by the design team.
- Support post-silicon validation, qualification, transfer to mass production, and customer support.
- Collaborate with layout, test, packaging, and system teams to resolve integration issues and correlate measurements to simulations.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience are listed below; preferred items are noted separately.
-
Must-have: Proven IC design experience including chip tape-out and lab evaluation of receiver/TIA designs.
- Hands-on experience with EDA CAD tools and analog custom layout.
- Experience measuring IC performance and debugging to correlate simulation and measurement.
- Deep transistor-level design knowledge, device physics, and control/feedback loop stability analysis.
- Experience with SiGe BiCMOS and CMOS technologies and millimeter-wave/transmission-line structures.
- Ability to lead design teams and drive technical decisions across the project lifecycle.
-
Nice-to-have / strong plus: AGC loop design, CTLE experience, high-precision analog (regulators, sensors, bandgaps, DACs), package-system integration, prior chip-lead or mass-production experience, and mentoring junior designers.
- Strong communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (RF/Analog/TIA design) with ~10β15 years industry experience, or MSc/PhD in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years industry experience. (Degree-level and years-of-experience guidance taken from the source.)
