Job Title

Principal Analog/Mixed-Signal CAD Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Methodology team supporting AMS and silicon photonics IC design. Responsible for maintaining AMS simulation environments, improving CAD flows, and enabling reliable analog/RF verification for advanced process technologies.

Work closely with analog designers, EDA vendors, TCAD and foundry teams to resolve simulation, modeling and toolchain issues and to automate verification workflows.

Experience Level

Senior-level role. The posting expects experienced candidates (senior/principal), typically with multiple years of relevant AMS CAD and simulation experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include maintaining AMS flows, resolving simulation issues, and delivering tooling and automation that increase team efficiency.

  • Setup, maintain and support AMS simulation environments for CMOS FinFET and BiCMOS high-speed designs.
  • Collaborate with analog design teams and EDA vendors to diagnose and resolve simulation issues.
  • Work with TCAD and foundry teams on device/circuit modeling and model validation topics.
  • Evaluate and benchmark AMS simulation tools and communicate findings to design teams.
  • Define, develop and validate custom circuit checks and model QA flows.
  • Create automation scripts and tools to improve design and verification efficiency.

Requirements

Key technical and professional requirements. Items marked "Must-have" are required; "Nice-to-have" indicate preferred skills.

  • Must-have: Experience setting up and maintaining analog/mixed-signal simulation flows for advanced FinFET process technologies.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with industry AMS simulation tools (examples: ADE, AMS Designer, Spectre, FineSim, AFS).
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of AMS flows including design entry, parasitic extraction, and post-layout simulation.
  • Must-have: Experience debugging complex high-speed analog/RF simulation and device-model issues.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Virtuoso Schematic Editor, PDKs, CDF and netlisting workflows.
  • Nice-to-have: Scripting and automation experience (TCL, Python, Perl, SKILL) to develop tool flows and QA checks.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field with ~5–10 years of relevant experience; or Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with ~3–5 years of experience. The posting also allows equivalent professional experience in lieu of a formal degree.
