Job Title

Principal Analog Methodology Specialist

Role Summary

Lead development of analog and mixed-signal methodology, automation, and verification flows for high-performance IP. Work with cross-functional teams to integrate transistor-level simulation, STA, reliability analysis, and AI/ML techniques into analog design workflows.

Expect a hands-on technical role that combines scripting, tool integration, methodology development, and mentoring of junior engineers.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting indicates very experienced candidates (senior/principal) with multi-decade IC design experience; see Education Requirements for the specific experience guidance provided by the employer.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership, methodology development, and automation:

  • Collaborate with analog and mixed-signal designers to define and improve design and methodology flows.
  • Integrate AI/ML and LLM techniques into analog design workflows for automation and optimization.
  • Perform transistor-level simulation and reliability analysis to validate designs.
  • Use static timing analysis (STA) tools to validate and optimize circuit performance.
  • Develop and automate flows and tools using Python, Perl, TCL, and C/C++.
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers on methodologies and best practices.
  • Drive integration of high-speed PHYs (SERDES, DDR, HBM) into SoC environments.

Requirements

Key technical must-haves and preferred skills (education and degree details are summarized below under Education Requirements):

  • Extensive hands-on experience with transistor-level simulators and SPICE tools (e.g. HSPICE, PrimeSim/FineSim, XA).
  • Strong programming and automation skills: Python, Perl, TCL, C/C++.
  • Practical experience applying AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar) to engineering problems.
  • Deep knowledge of analog and mixed-signal circuit design principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with reliability analysis and static timing analysis workflows for mixed-signal IP.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers effectively.
  • Experience integrating high-speed interfaces and PHY IP into SoC designs.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required; MSEE or PhD is preferred. The posting specifies experience equivalence tied to degree level: approximately 18–25 years of IC design experience with a BSEE, or 15–18 years with an MSEE or PhD. Fields referenced include Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering; the posting also allows related technical fields and equivalent practical experience.
