Job Title

Principal Analog Layout Engineer

Role Summary

Join Marvell's Central Engineering AMS-IP team in San Diego to implement analog/mixed-signal layouts for high-speed SerDes and other AMS IP used across Marvell SoCs. Deliver production-ready layout, drive physical-verification closure, and collaborate with circuit designers and PV teams to support SoC integration.

Experience Level

Senior-level (principal) engineering role. See Education Requirements for degree-specific experience guidance.

Responsibilities

Primary technical and cross-functional duties for the role.

  • Create analog/mixed-signal layouts from schematics using industry CAD tools for deep sub-micron and FinFET processes.
  • Work with circuit designers to clarify layout requirements and realize schematic intent.
  • Provide post-layout feedback and recommend schematic or floorplanning changes when needed.
  • Analyze and resolve Physical Verification issues (DRC, LVS, ANT, ERC, EMIR) and coordinate with PV engineers to achieve closure.
  • Use layout and verification flows to meet performance, area, and manufacturability targets.
  • Document work, follow process and quality standards, and support remote or distributed design teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional behaviors.

  • Extensive hands-on analog/mixed-signal layout experience in deep sub-micron/FinFET technologies.
  • Proficiency with Cadence Virtuoso (VXL) and/or Synopsys Custom Compiler.
  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Calibre for DRC/LVS verification.
  • Practical knowledge of PV checks including DRC, LVS, antenna checks, ERC, and electromigration/IR analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions and with remote teams.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 15+ years of related professional experience; Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with ~10–12 years of experience; PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with ~8–10 years of experience.
