Principal Analog Engineer - Power Management
NXP SemiconductorsJob Title
Principal Analog Engineer - Power Management
Role Summary
Senior analog/mixed-signal engineer on the Power Delivery team within Advanced Power Systems, responsible for architecture and transistor-level implementation of power-management ICs for automotive and robotics applications.
Lead technical execution from block design through verification and validation, collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver high-quality mixed-signal integrated circuits.
Experience Level
Senior-level engineer. Requires at least 8 years of direct experience designing analog and mixed-signal transistor-level circuits for power management applications.
Responsibilities
Primary technical and team responsibilities include:
- Define system and block architecture and perform circuit design, simulation and layout for mixed-signal power-management ICs.
- Lead verification and validation activities and ensure technical deliverables meet quality and performance targets.
- Provide layout guidance, design documentation, and design-review artifacts.
- Collaborate with customers, product, test, packaging, program management and quality teams on design trade-offs and implementation.
- Prepare technical publications, contribute to patents, and support assigned products by email/phone as needed.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred technical skills and experience.
- Must-have: Minimum 8 years of hands-on analog and mixed-signal transistor-level design experience for power-management applications.
- Must-have: Deep expertise in analog circuit design theory and device physics, and demonstrated ability to develop original circuit solutions.
- Must-have: Proven ability to design MOS and BJT analog building blocks such as bandgap references, amplifiers, oscillators, detection circuits, linear LDOs and switching regulators.
- Preferred: Experience with DC-DC chargers, switched-capacitor converters, load switches and hybrid converter designs.
- Preferred: Familiarity with mixed-signal design flows, simulation tools and reading/writing Verilog-AMS models.
- Strong documentation, communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; able to support products in customer-facing interactions.
Education Requirements
Minimum: B.S. in Electrical Engineering. M.S. in Electrical Engineering (or related) preferred.
