Principal Analog Engineer
Role Summary
Principal Analog Engineer responsible for defining and evaluating power-management IC (PMIC) architectures and driving technical direction for PMIC products within the Advanced Mixed Signal and ASIC Solution Business Division. The role coordinates across design, test, application, and standards groups to deliver production-ready power-management solutions.
Experience Level
Senior β technical architect level. Typical experience: 10+ years (MSEE/PhD) or 15+ years (BSEE) in industry power-management and analog IC design.
Responsibilities
Principal responsibilities include ownership of PMIC architecture and cross-functional delivery activities.
- Define, explore, and evaluate PMIC IC architectures and top-level specifications.
- Drive and represent PMIC design decisions in industry standardization and cross-company forums.
- Collaborate with system, digital, layout, test, and applications teams to ensure manufacturable designs and timely product delivery.
- Create and maintain design documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
- Lead silicon evaluation, lab bring-up, circuit debugging, and production-test development activities.
- Provide customer and applications support for power-management solutions and product requirements.
- Specify technology requirements for future product roadmaps and evaluate process impacts on designs.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for immediate contribution.
- Extensive experience with power-management circuits and switch-mode power supply architectures, including switching regulators, LDOs, fast-response DC-DC converters, and switched-capacitor converters.
- Proven experience in high-precision analog IC design: amplifiers, comparators, regulators, oscillators, and references.
- Strong understanding of CMOS and BCD process technologies and their impact on circuit design.
- Proficiency with circuit and system simulation tools (Cadence, MATLAB) and mixed-signal simulation in Cadence AMS.
- Demonstrated lab evaluation and silicon bring-up skills, including debugging and measurement.
- Experience with documentation, clear technical communication, and working in cross-functional teams.
- Experience participating in industry standardization efforts or applying standards to product designs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with 15+ years relevant industry experience, or Master of Science (MSEE) or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Power Electronics with 10+ years relevant industry experience.
