Job Title

Principal Analog Design Engineer - DC-DC Architect

Role Summary

Lead architect and principal designer for DC-DC converters and power-management ICs (PMICs) in the Advanced Power Systems group. The role drives architecture, analog/mixed-signal design, verification, silicon bring-up, and production release for automotive and industrial power solutions.

Work with system, digital, layout, test, and validation teams to deliver robust, high-performance power management products that meet reliability and functional-safety requirements.

Experience Level

Senior β€” requires substantial experience (see Education Requirements). Typical candidate: 12+ years in analog or mixed-signal IC design with at least 5 years in technical leadership or principal/architect roles.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system- and circuit-level architecture, technical leadership, and cross-functional delivery from concept to production.

  • Define system and circuit architectures for high-performance DC-DC converters, multiphase designs, and integrated PMICs.
  • Translate product requirements into analog and mixed-signal specifications and implementation plans.
  • Lead topology selection, architecture exploration, and design trade-off analyses (buck, boost, buck-boost, multiphase).
  • Design and supervise development of analog building blocks: error amps, references, compensation networks, current sensing, gate drivers, protection circuits, oscillators, comparators, ADCs, and digital-assisted control.
  • Develop control architectures to optimize efficiency, transient response, EMI performance, accuracy, and thermal behavior.
  • Guide transistor-level design, simulation, verification, silicon bring-up, characterization, debug, and production ramp activities.
  • Lead design and architecture reviews and make technical decisions throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with customers, product management, and cross-functional teams to define requirements and roadmaps.
  • Mentor engineers and improve design methodologies, automation flows, and best practices.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills, experience, and competencies for successful performance.

  • Minimum 12 years of analog or mixed-signal IC design experience, including at least 5 years in technical leadership or principal/architect roles.
  • Deep expertise in DC-DC converter architectures and control techniques (current-mode, voltage-mode, hysteretic, constant-on-time, digital-assisted control).
  • Strong transistor-level design and simulation skills using industry-standard EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens EDA).
  • Experience with silicon bring-up, characterization, root-cause analysis, and production support.
  • Proven track record designing automotive or industrial PMICs, voltage regulators, battery-management, or power-conversion products.
  • Familiarity with functional safety, reliability, EMC/EMI considerations, and automotive quality processes (desirable).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive execution in a fast-paced product development environment.

Education Requirements

M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required (Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Power Electronics, or equivalent technical fields). No alternative-equivalent-experience language is provided.
