Principal AI/ML Engineer, Validation Strategy & Test Architecture
Role Summary
The Validation Strategy & Test Architecture (ViSTA) AI/ML team integrates AI/ML into firmware and hardware validation workflows. This principal role designs, develops, and deploys AI/ML systems to predict failures, automate analysis, optimize test coverage, and improve validation efficiency across Micron platforms.

Senior β Principal-level role. Minimum industry guidance: 8+ years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver AI/ML capabilities across validation engineering, test optimization, and automation.
- Develop ML models for automated root-cause analysis of validation and test failures.
- Build predictive analytics for failure forecasting and risk identification.
- Design pattern-recognition algorithms to detect failure signatures in historical data.
- Create validation intelligence dashboards to support data-driven decisions.
- Implement AI-driven test selection and prioritization based on code change risk.
- Identify test coverage gaps and reduce redundancies while preserving confidence.
- Develop AI-powered test generation and adaptive, self-healing test execution systems.
- Integrate Large Language Models into validation workflows where appropriate.
- Partner with firmware, hardware, and system teams to define needs, extract ML features, and deploy scalable solutions.
- Enable AI adoption through tooling, guidance, and cross-team collaboration.
Requirements
Core technical skills and proven production experience required; preferred skills listed separately.
- At least 8 years industry experience working on technical engineering projects.
- 7+ years of software development experience, primarily using Python.
- Strong foundation in machine learning fundamentals, including model evaluation and feature engineering.
- Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Experience deploying and maintaining ML models in production environments.
- Demonstrated ability to translate domain validation knowledge into ML features and production systems.

Nice-to-have: experience with LLMs and prompt engineering, MLOps and model monitoring, CI/CD for ML, NLP on logs or test data, semiconductor/firmware/validation domain experience, and building predictive failure or reliability analytics.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is listed as a minimum. Preferred: a Master's degree focused on Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or Data Science.
