Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

The engineer will implement and execute pre-silicon validation for Intel core IP used in desktops, notebooks, servers and cloud CPUs. The role sits on the Core Level Validation (CLV) team and focuses on verifying core features, power-management flows, and external interfaces to memory and SOC.

The position works closely with cluster validation teams, designers, architects and verification engineers to develop stimulus, coverage, test infrastructure and validation plans.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning, implementing and executing pre-silicon validation and maintaining test environments.

  • Develop and implement validation stimulus, coverage, and automated test environments for core IP.
  • Write, refine and execute validation plans (VP); identify validation gaps.
  • Analyze test results, debug failures, and propose corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with validation clusters, designers, architects and verification teams to close issues.
  • Integrate and maintain software/hardware test infrastructure and automation.
  • Focus on core features including power-management flows and external memory/SOC interfaces.
  • Work on-site as required by the role.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Practical ability to create and execute validation plans, strong problem-solving and debugging skills, and effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams.
  • Must-have: Comfortable working on-site and participating in team-driven validation activities.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with CPU architecture.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with verification frameworks and tools such as SVTB, UVM or Specman (e).
  • Nice-to-have: Experience developing integrated software and/or hardware test environments.
  • Nice-to-have: Previous work on core IP, power-management flows, or memory/SOC interfaces.

Education Requirements

B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
