Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

The Pre-Silicon Validation Engineer will design and execute validation activities for pre-silicon hardware and firmware. The role contributes to verification, debug, and optimization of IP/SoC functionality before tape-out.

Position is part of the Central Engineering Group (CEG) engineering team in Bangalore and requires on-site presence to collaborate with cross-functional teams delivering product enablement and custom silicon solutions.

Experience Level

Entry-level (Early career). Typical hire profile: 0–3 years of relevant engineering or validation experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include planning and performing validation, diagnosing issues, and working with teams to drive fixes and improvements.

  • Plan, execute, and support pre-silicon validation and verification tasks for IP/SoC designs.
  • Analyze, debug, and resolve functional and integration issues using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
  • Develop and run test benches, test cases, and automation to validate hardware and firmware behavior.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, firmware, tools, customers) to reproduce and prioritize defects and implement fixes.
  • Document test plans, results, and technical findings; prepare concise reports and presentations.
  • Contribute to process improvements, test methodology enhancements, and tool adoption to increase test coverage and efficiency.
  • Stay current with relevant technology trends and validation techniques.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for this role.

  • Must-have: Strong technical aptitude; ability to learn new tools and platforms quickly.
  • Must-have: Experience with debugging and problem-solving in hardware or firmware contexts; familiarity with common validation tools and simulators.
  • Must-have: Programming or scripting ability (e.g., Python, TCL, or similar) to develop test automation and analysis scripts.
  • Must-have: Practical experience in test creation, execution, and result analysis; effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with pre-silicon/evaluation platforms, emulation, or hardware bring-up.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior exposure to ASIC/SoC validation flows, verification methodologies, or tools used in product enablement.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree (BS) in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience. Preferred: Master’s degree in a related discipline.
