Pre-Silicon IP System Validation Intern
Role Summary
The intern will support pre-silicon functional validation of soft IP and subsystems using FPGA-based prototyping and emulation to verify design requirements. Work includes executing RTL tests, bringing up validation environments, troubleshooting failures, and documenting results.
Experience Level
Internship — student-level role. Open to final-year or 3rd-year tertiary students.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Execute functional validation tests on IP RTL using FPGA prototyping and emulation platforms.
- Bring up and maintain validation environments and test infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot failures and perform first-line debugging to support root-cause analysis.
- Develop and run test scripts; collect, analyze, and report test results and failure findings.
- Document test procedures, results, and lessons learned.
- Collaborate with IP, subsystem, and software engineers to resolve issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes:
- Knowledge of computer system architecture.
- Understanding of subsystem HW/SW stacks, onboard components, connectors, and device drivers.
- Programming experience in Python and C or C++.
- Strong troubleshooting ability, curiosity, and teamwork skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with FPGA-based prototyping or emulation validation hardware.
- Familiarity with RTL-based validation and test methodologies.
- Experience with embedded software, device drivers, or hardware bring-up.
Education Requirements
Open to final-year or 3rd-year tertiary students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Electronic Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Microelectronic Engineering; Mechatronic Engineering; Computer Engineering; or Computer Science.
