Job Title

Power, Thermal and Performance Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for defining, developing and executing SoC-level validation and optimization plans for power, thermal, and performance across Intel products within the Silicon and Platform Engineering Group.

Work with architecture, design, verification, firmware, software and platform teams to debug, validate, and optimize SoC behavior under targeted scenarios.

Experience Level

Entry-level. Guidance: 0–1 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 0 years with a Master’s degree.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on SoC power/thermal/performance validation, analysis, debugging, and infrastructure development.

  • Define and implement SoC-level power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization plans.
  • Conduct power and performance analysis to ensure KPIs and thermal/power constraints are met.
  • Create and run benchmarks, KPIs, and landing zones for usage optimization under defined scenarios.
  • Execute validation methodologies; troubleshoot and optimize designs with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform SoC-level debugging to identify and resolve power, thermal, and performance failures.
  • Develop and maintain validation infrastructure: performance monitors, behavioral checkers, and coverage tools; configure and manage test environments.
  • Publish validation reports summarizing activities, results, and optimizations.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and practical experience for effective execution of the role.

  • Practical experience with SoC power, thermal, and performance validation and optimization methodologies.
  • Experience in performance validation, power/performance analysis, and debugging techniques.
  • Proficiency in Python and C for data analysis and test automation.
  • Good understanding of platform components and system architecture.
  • Ability to develop validation infrastructure and configure test environments.
  • Strong technical communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with pre-silicon or post-silicon validation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with benchmarking tools and data collection instruments (DAQs, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes).
  • Experience producing detailed validation reports and cross-team documentation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required per the posting; a Master’s in a related field is preferred. The posting specifies experience guidance tied to degree level (0–1 years with a Bachelor’s; 0 years with a Master’s). Equivalent practical experience not explicitly stated beyond degree-based guidance.
