Power System Application Engineer

Role Summary

Define and validate system-level power solutions for server products, focusing on 48V intermediate bus converter (IBC) integration for AI servers, telecom, and industrial systems. Interface with customers and internal teams to translate system requirements into IC and reference-design specifications, and lead validation and integration efforts.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically requires 5+ years of relevant experience in power electronics or system engineering.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct market and application analysis to define 48V IBC product requirements and system specifications.
• Collaborate with customers, sales, product marketing, applications, design, and validation teams to define architecture and specifications.
• Define IC requirements (controller, driver, power stage) aligned with system-level needs.
• Design and develop proof-of-concepts, validation platforms, and reference designs for system integration.
• Investigate and validate advanced 48V DC/DC and integrated power solutions for server and telecom use cases.
• Develop simulation models, calculators, and datasheet content to support product releases.
• Perform system-level analysis including power integrity, thermal performance, and fault response.
• Create application notes, reference designs, and technical collateral for customers and internal teams.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in power electronics or system engineering.
• Strong expertise in power electronics, specifically DC-DC converters.
• Solid understanding of power topologies, control-loop theory, and stability analysis.
• Experience defining IC requirements and performing system integration.
• Hands-on experience with PCB schematic/layout and CAD tools.
• Familiarity with simulation tools such as PSpice or SIMPLIS.
• Strong lab debugging and validation skills.
• Experience producing technical collateral (datasheets, user guides, application notes).
• Proven ability to drive cross-functional teams and deliver results.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with 48V IBC architectures and data-center/server power systems.
• Experience with power-integrity and thermal modeling at the system level.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS) or above in Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Master's or PhD in a related field would also meet the requirement. The posting does not state an alternative "or equivalent experience" clause for education.
