Power Management Software Engineer
ArmJob Title
Power Management Software Engineer
Role Summary
Senior embedded software engineer responsible for designing, implementing, integrating, and validating low-level power management firmware and software for next-generation Arm-based SoC platforms. Work sits on the Software (CE-SW) team focused on platform bring-up across simulation, emulation, FPGA, and silicon environments.
The role involves close hardware–software interaction, system-level power policy implementation, and collaboration with hardware and firmware teams to enable robust power sequencing, clock and reset control, and DVFS mechanisms.
Experience Level
Senior-level. The posting requests an experienced engineer with leadership responsibilities; no specific years-of-experience were stated.
Responsibilities
Primary technical and team responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and maintain low-level firmware and software for SoC power management.
- Implement and optimise system power states: power-on, power-off, suspend, resume, and low-power modes.
- Lead and coordinate engineering workstreams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Develop firmware for CPU, cluster, and system-level power management, including power domain control, clock and reset management, and voltage regulation.
- Support power sequencing and coordination across multiple SoC components and validate on software models, development boards, and silicon.
- Design and integrate Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) mechanisms where applicable.
- Perform low-level test, debugging and performance analysis across Linux, bootloader and bare-metal environments.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; followed by typical nice-to-haves.
- Must-have: Strong embedded systems and low-level firmware development experience.
- Proficiency in C (ability to add significant functionality and fix complex defects); assembly knowledge preferred.
- Proven experience with Linux internals and driver development, bootloaders, and device drivers.
- Demonstrated expertise in SoC power management, system architecture (preferably Arm), and strong debugging skills.
- Experience leading technical development areas or small engineering teams.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with open-source development and contribution processes; experience with Agile or varied SDLC methods.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
