Power Integrity Senior Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Senior engineer responsible for leading power integrity (PI) analysis across die, package, and PCB for UCIe PHY and other high-speed I/O systems. Work closely with PHY, package, PCB, and signal integrity teams to define PI targets, validate models, and support silicon bring-up.

Responsibilities

Lead technical PI activities from requirements through sign-off; collaborate across disciplines to ensure robust power delivery in multi-gigabit interfaces.

  • Lead end-to-end PI analysis across die, package, and PCB (VRM to on-die power grid).
  • Develop and optimize Power Delivery Network architecture; perform DC IR drop, AC impedance, transient, and resonant analyses.
  • Build and validate electrical models for silicon, package substrates, PCBs, decoupling capacitors, and voltage regulators (S-parameters, IBIS, SPICE).
  • Define target impedance requirements; analyze simultaneous switching noise, ground bounce, and power-induced jitter.
  • Collaborate with package, PCB, signal integrity, and PHY teams to optimize decoupling strategies and power distribution topologies.
  • Support silicon bring-up by correlating lab measurements with simulations and refining models.

Requirements

Core technical skills and tool experience required for the role.

  • Deep understanding of Power Delivery Network design, including DC IR drop, AC impedance, transient analysis, and resonance mitigation.
  • Proven experience with die-package-board co-design for high-speed interfaces (UCIe, PCIe, DDR, SerDes, HBM).
  • Proficiency with PI and EM tools such as Cadence Sigrity, Ansys SIwave, Ansys HFSS, Ansys RedHawk-SC, Keysight ADS, or PowerSI.
  • Strong working knowledge of S-parameters, IBIS/IBIS-AMI modeling, SPICE simulation, and frequency-domain analysis.
  • Scripting experience for automation and data analysis (Python, Tcl, or MATLAB).
  • Ability to translate requirements between PHY, package, and PCB teams and to debug model discrepancies.

Education Requirements
