Job Title
Power Delivery Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate power delivery solutions for reference and validation boards supporting CPU/SoC platforms within Intel's Data Center Group. Work spans schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout review, BOM release, test-plan creation and lab validation.
This role requires on-site presence in Bangalore and frequent lab-based debugging and validation activities.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically requires 6+ years of relevant experience in electronics circuit or hardware/board design, particularly in VR/power delivery and hardware power-management domains.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Design and validate low-voltage DC–DC regulators and power-management circuits for CPU/SoC platforms and peripheral power rails.
- Develop design specifications, capture schematics, perform component selection, and release BOMs and supporting documents.
- Review PCB layouts against design guides using tools such as Cadence Allegro and Sigrity/PowerDC.
- Create and execute test plans for power-on, functional, electrical and stress validation; perform circuit and platform debug in the lab.
- Collaborate with BIOS/FW and cross-functional teams to coordinate receivables and deliverables for successful power-delivery implementation.
- Analyze project risk, develop plans and cost estimates, and ensure designs conform to specifications and standards.
- Respond to stakeholder requests and provide technical support during development and validation phases.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 6+ years experience in electronics circuit design or hardware/board design related to VR design, power delivery and hardware power-management.
- Hands-on experience with schematic capture tools (Concept / OrCAD), BOM tools, and PCB/layout review tools (Cadence Allegro, Sigrity/PowerDC).
- Lab and debug proficiency with high-speed oscilloscopes, electronic loads, current meters, DMMs, logic analyzers and soldering stations.
- Experience producing design specifications, test plans, and documentation for validation and release.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills; ability to work independently and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with CPU/SoC platform power architectures and close collaboration with firmware/BIOS teams.
- Prior experience in data-center or server-class platform development.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Engineering or Master of Science/Engineering in Electronics and Communication (or closely related electronic engineering field) as specified in the posting.
