Role Summary

As a Power Electronics Application Engineer at Nexperia Manchester, you will lead technical work on MOSFET-based power protection, distribution and conversion solutions for AI infrastructure, telecom, robotics, solar and energy-storage markets. The role involves system-level architecture, customer-facing technical support, and influencing product roadmaps across global teams.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Design, debug and validate MOSFET-based circuits for high-current systems.
• Create demo boards, reference designs, simulations, evaluation testbenches and design-in tools for power distribution architectures (e.g., 48V systems).
• Work with field teams and customers to translate requirements into product specifications and roadmap inputs.
• Act as technical interface for strategic customers, sales, field application engineers and internal stakeholders.
• Represent subject-matter expertise in customer meetings, training, and industry activities.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Significant experience in power electronics and ability to act as a technical authority in customer-facing and cross-functional environments.
• Proven expertise with high-current MOSFET operation, SOA, transient analysis and thermal design.
• Legal right and willingness to travel globally, occasionally on short notice.
• Interest in AI infrastructure and data-centre power systems.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with AI infrastructure, data-centre/server power, telecoms, industrial or automotive high-reliability power systems.
• Experience with 48V power distribution systems.
• Expertise with circuit simulation tools (SIMPLIS, LTspice, PSpice) and PCB design.

Education Requirements

Required: A degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, Physics or a relevant discipline; equivalent practical experience accepted. The posting also notes potential funded academic support up to PhD level as a benefit.
