Job Title

Power and Performance Engineer

Role Summary

As a Power and Performance (PnP) Engineer on Intel's Client Computing Group, you will execute measurements, analysis, and projections for unlaunched notebook and desktop SoC/CPU platforms. You will debug silicon and platform power/performance issues, coordinate with internal engineering, marketing, and OEM teams, and support product launches.

The role provides data-driven guidance for product positioning, KPIs, and OEM guidance collateral.

Experience Level

Entry-level (College graduate) β€” typically 1+ years of relevant post-silicon or engineering experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include measurements, analysis, debugging, and cross-team alignment to validate and communicate power and performance for upcoming products.

  • Measure and analyze workload performance and power to identify gaps and debug with engineering teams and architects.
  • Perform rail-by-rail power measurements of SoC/CPU and platform; diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Create power and performance estimates and projections to support marketing decisions and internal KPI targets.
  • Publish Power Performance Guide (PPG) collateral to guide OEM customers.
  • Bring up, calibrate, and maintain full test platforms to enable accurate, repeatable measurements.
  • Align measurement methodology and results with internal teams, field account teams, and marketing.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and relevant hands-on experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Familiarity with ITP/JTAG scripting and board bring-up workflows.
  • Experience with power measurements using data acquisition systems (DAQ) in a post-silicon environment.
  • Familiarity with industry benchmarks (Procyon, SPEC CPU, WebXPRT, Cinebench, Geekbench, MobileMark, 3DMark, etc.) and ability to analyze benchmark results.
  • Ability to set up, calibrate, and validate test platforms for repeatable measurements.
  • Experience measuring and analyzing workload and platform power across multiple rails.
  • Strong attention to data accuracy and trend analysis.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of CPU microarchitecture (x86 uarch is a plus).
  • Prior experience with Intel or other CPU products in post-silicon engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; experience producing technical content for technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated, fast learner, and able to adapt to changing priorities.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree (BS/MS) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is listed. The posting specifies 1+ years of experience. Qualifications may also be met via a combination of industry experience, internships, or relevant coursework.
