Job Title

Power Analysis and Optimization Engineer - New College Graduate 2027

Role Summary

Join the Power Analysis and Optimization team to perform ASIC power analysis, modeling, optimization, and flow automation for GPU and SoC products. The team partners with architecture, RTL, verification, and physical-design groups to set power targets, identify savings, and resolve power regressions across the design flow.

Your work will improve energy efficiency and support tradeoff decisions between power, performance, and area.

Experience Level

Entry-level - new college graduate (designed for candidates completing graduate degrees in 2027).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include power estimation, analysis, and enabling optimizations across the ASIC design flow.

  • Develop IP-level power models to estimate impact of architectural changes and new features.
  • Analyze power consumption across workloads and application scenarios.
  • Collaborate with architects and design teams to define power targets and evaluate power/performance/area tradeoffs.
  • Use internal flows and industry-standard tools to locate power inefficiencies and optimization opportunities.
  • Work with RTL and physical-design teams to implement and validate power optimizations.
  • Investigate power regressions and identify root causes in architecture, RTL, workload, or physical design.
  • Develop scripts, automation flows, and AI-assisted solutions to scale power analysis.
  • Research and prototype new methodologies for power modeling, attribution, and optimization.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and abilities expected for successful performance in this role.

  • Strong understanding of digital circuit design, computer architecture, or ASIC design methodology.
  • Familiarity with power-consumption fundamentals and common low-power design techniques.
  • Programming or scripting experience in Python, C++, Tcl, or similar languages.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with ASIC power-analysis tools such as PrimeTime PX or PowerArtist.
  • Experience with power modeling, workload analysis, power attribution, or low-power design.
  • Experience analyzing power/performance/area tradeoffs.
  • Experience developing or integrating AI-assisted automation workflows.

Education Requirements

Expected to graduate in 2027 with a MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
