Job Title

Post-Silicon Validation, Sr Staff Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the post-silicon electrical validation and characterization effort for UCIe die-to-die interface IP, owning test plan definition through silicon sign-off. The role combines lab debug, customer support, and development of lab automation and data-processing software used for validation and demonstrations.

Experience Level

Senior-level.

Responsibilities

Drive validation strategy, lab automation, and complex debug across hardware, firmware, and software to reach root cause and enable silicon sign-off.

  • Define and own post-silicon electrical validation and characterization strategy for die-to-die interface IP (test plans, measurement criteria, pass/fail definitions).
  • Architect and implement lab automation, instrument control, data capture, and result-processing software (Python, C, C++).
  • Lead cross-domain debug spanning circuit design, package/interposer channels, link training firmware, and protocol layers to isolate root causes.
  • Support customer silicon bring-up and debug through on-site and remote correlation sessions, including link training, lane repair, and degraded-mode analysis.
  • Develop characterization methods when direct probe access is limited, using on-die instrumentation, eye margining, built-in monitors, and bench equipment.
  • Create UIs and data presentation tools for customer evaluations, demos, and internal reporting.
  • Review and approve validation work, provide technical mentorship, and establish measurement and correlation methodology for the team.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • Extensive hands-on experience in post-silicon validation, characterization, and debug of high-speed mixed-signal interface IP; experience with die-to-die interfaces or high-speed SerDes.
  • Working knowledge of the UCIe specification (PHY and D2D adapter layers, link initialization/training, sideband operation, package considerations).
  • Advanced software development skills in Python, C, and C++ and strong software engineering practices for lab automation and data processing.
  • Expert-level experience with lab instrumentation: high-speed oscilloscopes, BERTs, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers; ability to extract signal-integrity and protocol insights from noisy data.
  • Proven experience supporting customer bring-up and debug in external lab environments and communicating findings to customer engineering teams.
  • Track record of architecting reliable lab automation frameworks and tools that other engineers depend on.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead technical reviews.
  • Excellent communication skills and credibility presenting technical results to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with GitLab, Jira, Confluence; Signals & Systems, transmission line theory, and high-speed link analysis applied to package/interposer channels.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
