Post Silicon Validation Intern
Role Summary
Summer 2027 internship based in Duluth, GA. The intern will support bench validation and post-silicon testing of new silicon products (e.g., DDR, memory controllers, mixed-signal ICs) and work with Design, Test, and Marketing teams to verify product behavior and performance.
Work focuses on electrical characterization, validation automation, debugging silicon issues, and documenting test results.
Experience Level
Entry-level - internship (Summer 2027). This role is intended for current students participating in a summer internship program.
Responsibilities
Primary duties performed during the internship:
- Execute bench validation plans and perform validations for new silicon products (DDR, memory controllers, MCR, and related ICs).
- Use lab instruments (oscilloscopes, BERT, AWG, programmable power supplies, multimeters, etc.) for electrical characterization and performance benchmarking.
- Assist in debugging and troubleshooting silicon issues and collaborate with Design and Test Engineers to develop fixes.
- Document test procedures, results, and findings in engineering reports.
- Contribute to development and improvement of automated test frameworks and validation scripts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align validation strategies with product requirements.
Requirements
Key skills and qualifications required for success in this internship.
- Strong understanding of digital and analog circuits, semiconductor devices, and basic computer architecture principles.
- Familiarity with lab equipment and measurement techniques used in silicon validation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, BERT, AWGs).
- Proficiency in programming or scripting for test automation and data analysis (Python preferred; C/C++ also acceptable).
- Hands-on experience with Python-based test automation and lab equipment control.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail when diagnosing hardware issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to document results clearly.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new validation tools and methodologies.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field; must not have graduated before Fall 2027. Enrollment in a graduate program and eligibility for a Summer 2027 internship are required.
