Job Title

Post-Silicon Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Drive bring-up, characterization, and debugging of next-generation Ethernet and PCIe retimer ICs. Work within the silicon validation team to ensure PHY-level compliance, interoperability, and product readiness for high-speed networking systems.

Experience Level

Senior β€” typically requires a Bachelor's in Engineering with 8+ years of related experience, or a Master's in Engineering with 6+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include silicon bring-up, compliance testing, automation, and root-cause analysis:

  • Bring up and characterize multi-rate retimer ICs for Ethernet and PCIe.
  • Validate Ethernet (100G/400G/800G) and PCIe (Gen5/Gen6) for IEEE and PCI-SIG compliance and interoperability.
  • Develop Python-based automated test frameworks for throughput, BER, and control-path testing using ARM-based micros and GPIO/MDIO/I2C interfaces.
  • Use traffic generators and protocol analyzers to reproduce and diagnose link training, firmware, and silicon issues.
  • Capture and analyze lab data, coordinate fixes with design and firmware teams, and execute regression testing.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • Deep knowledge of Ethernet PHY architecture: PAM4/NRZ signaling, FEC, auto-negotiation, and link training.
  • Experience with high-speed PCIe protocols and analyzers (Gen5/Gen6 experience preferred).
  • Proficiency with lab equipment: high-bandwidth oscilloscopes, BERTs, Ethernet traffic generators/network analyzers (for example Ixia or Spirent).
  • Strong Python skills for lab automation and data analysis; C/C++ for low-level register and firmware interaction.
  • Experience building automated test frameworks and working with ARM-based micros, GPIO, MDIO, and I2C.
  • Proven ability to root-cause complex silicon and system-level issues using protocol analyzers and traffic generators.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional debugging and validation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8+ years of related experience, or Master's degree in Engineering and 6+ years of related experience.
