Role Summary

Manage and scale Tenstorrent's post-silicon lab infrastructure to support CPU and chiplet bring-up, system validation, and customer enablement. Lead operational workflows, lab engineers, and tooling to meet tape-out and silicon-arrival schedules.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The role expects approximately 8–12+ years in semiconductor hardware with 3+ years leading a post-silicon validation, characterization, or hardware lab team.

Responsibilities

Own day-to-day lab operations and lead the team responsible for first-silicon bring-up, validation, and debug.

• Run lab operations for CPU post-silicon validation, power/performance assessment, and hardware debug aligned to tape-out schedules.
• Lead first-silicon power-on, system bring-up, and platform validation; perform and coordinate board-level fixes as needed.
• Deploy and maintain server racks, data acquisition systems, power telemetry rigs, and automated test benches for multi-core CPU and chiplet systems.
• Manage CapEx and procurement for scopes, logic/protocol analyzers, traffic generators, and other lab equipment.
• Own inventory, calibration cycles, silicon allocation tracking, and lab safety compliance using tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
• Coordinate cross-functional debugging with Emulation, Silicon Design, Software, and Architecture teams; keep remote, multi-site teams aligned from the Santa Clara hub.

Requirements

Key qualifications, split between must-have and desirable capabilities.

• Must-have: 8–12+ years in semiconductor hardware engineering with at least 3 years leading a post-silicon validation, characterization, or hardware lab team focused on CPUs.
• Must-have: Hands-on experience with board-level debug tools and deep knowledge of high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR/GDDR/HBM, SerDes) and fabric links.
• Must-have: Experience deploying and operating server racks, data acquisition, power telemetry rigs, and automated test benches; experience managing CapEx for lab equipment.
• Must-have: Familiarity with inventory and allocation tracking, calibration cycles, lab scheduling, and safety/compliance processes; experience with JIRA and Confluence.
• Must-have: Ability to troubleshoot physical hardware under tight tape-out and silicon-arrival deadlines and to coordinate across distributed teams.
• Nice-to-have: Prior experience with CPU/chiplet architectures, traffic generators, logic/protocol analyzers, and power/performance validation at system scale.
• Nice-to-have: Background in customer enablement or working directly with external partners to validate platforms.

Education Requirements

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical field; equivalent practical experience in semiconductor hardware is acceptable.
