Job Title

Post-Silicon Debug Tools Engineer

Role Summary

Define, architect, develop, deploy, and support post-silicon scan and memory-extraction debug tools used in SoC system debug. Work within a Solution Engineering / SoC architecture team and collaborate with DFT architecture, design, verification, and silicon validation teams to integrate debug flows into a larger silicon debug toolkit.

Experience Level

Mid-level (6+ years experience in post-silicon validation, debug tools, or SoC bring-up).

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include architecture, development, validation, and support of post-silicon debug tooling and flows.

  • Lead architecture and implementation of scan and memory-extraction post-silicon debug tools as part of an SoC debug toolkit.
  • Collaborate with DFT architecture and design teams to interface tools with DFT hardware and system debug use cases.
  • Design and integrate scan and memory dump flows into larger silicon debug toolchains.
  • Partner with silicon verification teams to validate end-to-end debug flows in simulation and emulation environments.
  • Provide training and operational support to post-silicon debug teams using the tools for root-cause analysis.
  • Promote automation, reuse, and scalable debug methodologies to reduce time-to-root-cause.
  • Influence silicon architecture for improved observability and diagnosability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience.

  • Proficient in Python for tool and automation development.
  • Knowledge of software development best practices: unit testing, code coverage, release processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with Git, Gerrit, Artifactory, and CloudBees.
  • Strong understanding of JTAG, trace, scan, MBIST, and on-chip debug architectures.
  • Familiarity with SoC debug ecosystems such as CoreSight, IJTAG, ELA and telemetry frameworks.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across hardware, software, and validation teams in fast-paced environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with multi-functional and multi-site teams.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
