PMU Analog Layout Design Intern
Role Summary
Internship supporting the Power Management (PMU) team on custom analog layout for power-management integrated circuits. Work with layout engineers and circuit designers to perform transistor-level layout, verification, and floor-planning for analog blocks in modern CMOS processes.
Experience Level
Intern / entry-level role for currently enrolled students. Suitable for students seeking hands-on chip-layout experience.
Responsibilities
Primary tasks expected during the internship include:
- Perform transistor-level layout of analog circuit blocks under guidance from experienced colleagues.
- Assist with layout verification: DRC, LVS, PERC, and DFM using Calibre (Siemens EDA).
- Support block- and top-level floor-planning activities with the design team.
- Analyze and document layout results and participate in design reviews.
- Learn layout techniques for device matching, minimizing parasitics, and power routing.
Requirements
Minimum technical and interpersonal expectations.
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor technology and CMOS circuits from coursework or projects.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and enjoyment of precise, hands-on work.
- Basic familiarity with Unix/Linux command-line environments.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal; effective cross-disciplinary communication and teamwork.
- Nice-to-have: initial exposure to full-custom layout tools such as Cadence Virtuoso or similar.
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled student in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or a related field.
