PMTS Integration Quantum Engineer
Role Summary
The PMTS Integration Quantum Engineer is a senior technical contributor in the Quantum Product Development organization responsible for defining and executing semiconductor integration architectures that enable scalable quantum computing systems.
This role spans device integration, BEOL interconnects, photonics, advanced packaging, cryogenic interfaces, and process development. The engineer will drive integration decisions, roadmaps, and cross-functional programs to transition emerging quantum concepts into manufacturable technologies.
Experience Level
Senior - requires extensive experience; the posting specifies 15+ years of semiconductor process integration, technology development, or advanced manufacturing experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of integration efforts, execution of development programs, and cross-disciplinary coordination.
- Lead development of semiconductor integration architectures for quantum platforms.
- Define integration strategies across front-end devices, BEOL routing, photonic interfaces, packaging, interconnects, and quantum-specific process modules.
- Develop and maintain technology roadmaps and identify/close critical technology gaps.
- Define and execute integrated process flows, process windows, and technology learning cycles using DOE and statistical analysis.
- Establish integration checkpoints, performance metrics, and success criteria.
- Collaborate with device engineering, process teams, manufacturing, reliability, modeling, design enablement, and packaging.
- Analyze electrical, physical, reliability, and metrology data; lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction; contribute to invention disclosures and technical publications.
Requirements
Must-have technical qualifications and experience required to perform the role.
- 15+ years of semiconductor process integration, technology development, or advanced manufacturing experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in semiconductor integration, process development, or technology commercialization.
- Experience leading cross-functional technical programs or major development initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills, experimental design (DOE), and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineering and leadership audiences.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with BEOL technologies, photonics integration, advanced packaging, or heterogeneous integration.
- Knowledge of quantum hardware architectures, ion trapping, photonic systems, or cryogenic electronics.
- Experience with externally funded R&D programs and transitioning research to manufacturing.
- Familiarity with MES systems and foundry processing.
Education Requirements
Associate's degree, BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline - or equivalent practical experience.
