PMTS Application Engineer — Field Application Engineer (Korea)

Role Summary

Customer-facing Field Application Engineer responsible for enabling design wins by bridging customer requirements with processor IP, software tools, and custom silicon solutions. The role supports pre-sales and early development phases and coordinates with internal engineering, sales, and ecosystem partners.

Primary focus is technical engagement with customers and ecosystem partners to secure processor IP licenses, tool adoption, and custom SoC programs.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience in SoC/ASIC design and architecture.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include pre-sales technical support, solution enablement, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Serve as primary technical interface to customers during pre-sales and early development.
• Support customer teams in evaluating and adopting processor IP, toolchains, and development environments.
• Provide hands-on guidance for processor IP integration, software toolchains, and system architecture trade-offs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues during evaluation phases, coordinating with internal engineering teams.
• Support opportunity development with Business Development and Sales; contribute to proposals, RFIs, and technical presentations.
• Participate in customer workshops, demos, and industry events; engage ecosystem partners (software, EDA, design services).
• Translate customer requirements and feedback into actionable items for product and engineering teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical experience and customer-facing skills; preferred items listed separately.

• Must-have: 7+ years relevant experience in SoC/ASIC design and architecture.
• Must-have: Strong understanding of RISC and DSP processor architectures.
• Must-have: Proven customer-facing communication and presentation skills; experience supporting pre-sales engagements.
• Must-have: Willingness to travel up to 30% within Korea.
• Nice-to-have: Experience across SoC design stages (architecture, RTL/Verilog, synthesis, physical design).
• Nice-to-have: Embedded system design, firmware/software development, or hands-on debug experience.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with DSP algorithms (wireless, LiDAR/RADAR, image processing), AI/ML system requirements, automotive functional safety, or SoC security building blocks.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
