Job Title

PMIC Yield Diagnostics Engineer

Role Summary

Join Qualcomm Semiconductor Limited's ASICS Engineering team in Hsinchu to manage and improve yield for Power Management IC (PMIC) products. The role focuses on diagnosing yield detractors across manufacturing stages, driving root-cause analysis with cross-functional partners (foundry, process, test, quality), and supporting new product introduction.

Experience Level

Mid-level — typically 3–4+ years of relevant semiconductor yield/diagnostics experience. Typical experience guidance from minimum qualifications: Bachelor's +4 years, Master’s +3 years, PhD +2 years. Position can progress up to staff level based on experience and impact.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include yield analysis, diagnostics, and cross-team corrective actions to improve manufacturing performance and support product ramp.

  • Perform yield and diagnostics analysis for PMIC products across manufacturing stages (wafer sort, final test, etc.).
  • Analyze electrical failure data and statistical trends to identify yield loss mechanisms and failure signatures.
  • Work with foundries, test engineers, process, and quality teams to lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor yield trends and produce dashboards and reports to track key performance indicators.
  • Support new product introduction by assessing yield risks and performing early-stage data analysis.
  • Develop yield models and forecasts to inform supply planning and business assessment.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience, plus a short list of preferred expertise.

  • Proven experience in semiconductor yield, diagnostics analysis, data mining, or failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with PMIC architecture and test methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (examples: JMP, Excel, Power BI).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work cross-functionally and drive corrective actions.
  • Effective communication skills in English and Mandarin for collaboration with global teams and local partners.
  • Nice-to-have: experience developing yield models and forecasts; familiarity with inline metrology and process control metrics.
  • Preferred technical knowledge: understanding of high-voltage device behavior and BCD process sensitivities (detailed device/process expertise listed below).

Education Requirements

Preferred: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, or a related field. Minimum qualification guidance provided by the employer: Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering/related field with 4+ years relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 3+ years; OR PhD with 2+ years. Fields of study mentioned include Electrical Engineering and Semiconductor Physics; related technical fields are acceptable.
