PMIC Design Engineer
QualcommJob Title
PMIC Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and verify mixed-signal power-management integrated circuits (PMICs) for mobile, compute, AR/VR, automotive and IoT products as part of Qualcomm's PMIC analog design team in Bangalore. The role covers system definition, circuit design, simulation, layout oversight and post-silicon debug within a global PMIC design community.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical candidates have multiple years of hands-on hardware/analog or PMIC design experience (see Education Requirements for formal experience pathways).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include delivering design, verification and evaluation for PMIC blocks:
- Define, design, verify and document mixed-signal PMIC circuits and blocks.
- Execute design and verification strategies for assigned block(s) under technical lead supervision.
- Perform circuit simulation, behavioral modeling, and verify functionality against specifications.
- Support layout review activities and coordinate silicon bring-up and post-silicon debug.
- Analyze industry trends and competitor products relevant to power management.
- Communicate technical results in documents and meetings; collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience (excluding degree requirements listed under Education Requirements):
- Analog/mixed-signal circuit design experience with focus on power management (switch-mode and linear regulators).
- Knowledge of control theory, high-accuracy data converters, analog front ends, and high-bandwidth linear amplifiers.
- Experience with low-power reference design, transistor reliability/electromigration concerns, and behavioral/UVI modeling.
- Practical experience in circuit simulation and verification using tools such as Cadence ADE and MATLAB.
- Familiarity with Verilog/Verilog-AMS and SystemVerilog for mixed-signal verification.
- Experience with silicon evaluation, debug, and working with layout teams.
- Effective written and verbal communication; ability to convey technical information and work across teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Prior PMIC or power-electronics product experience in mobile/compute/automotive domains.
- Experience with advanced modeling and UVM-style verification for mixed-signal designs.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering or related field with 4+ years of relevant hardware/analog engineering experience; OR Master's in those fields with 3+ years; OR PhD in those fields with 2+ years. Related technical fields are acceptable as stated by the employer.
