Job Title

Platform / System Debug Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Datacenter Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) responsible for system-level debug, ensuring availability and uptime of datacenter systems and clusters. Work focuses on hardware/firmware interactions and validating components that interface with GPU SoCs.

Role requires hands-on data center work and guiding junior engineers through problem resolution.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Specific years not stated; demonstrated experience debugging complex hardware/firmware and system-level GPU flows required.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include triage, root cause analysis, documentation, and leadership for system bring-up and datacenter deployments.

  • Debug and triage complex HW/FW issues across system and GPU layers using industry tools.
  • Validate GPU SoC connections (PCIe, voltage regulators, retimers, HBM, internal networking) and system initialization flows.
  • Probe board-level signals, check electrical and power currents, and perform board-level diagnostics.
  • Apply RAS (reliability/availability/serviceability) knowledge to identify and trace GPU-level fault flows.
  • Drive root-cause investigations and coordinate resolutions with internal teams and external partners.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers handling service tickets.
  • Document bring-up, boot, initialization, and debug procedures and methods.

Requirements

Qualifications focus on practical system debug skills, data center hardware experience, and communication/leadership.

Must-have:

  • Proven experience debugging complex hardware and firmware interactions at system level.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware in data center environments and using industry debug tools (scopes, probes, etc.).
  • Understanding of GPU and system HW/SW flow and RAS concepts.
  • Ability to perform board-level probing and electrical/power validation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication to drive issues across multiple owners.
  • Ability to lead investigations and guide junior engineers to resolution.
  • Authorized to work in the United States; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in systems integration, data center deployments, and resolving manufacturing failures.
  • Experience with direct liquid cooling, complex cluster networks, or extensive SoC/system-level debug.
  • Experience working with external customers/partners on deployments, manufacturing issues, or requirements definition.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
