Platform Integration Engineer
Role Summary
Design and integrate IP logic blocks and subsystems for SoC products within Intel's Central Engineering Group. The role focuses on RTL design, optimization for power/performance/area, verification support, and cross-team integration to enable IP-to-SoC handoff.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Typical experience expectations from the posting: Bachelor's degree with 6+ years or Master's degree with 4+ years working on RTL/SystemVerilog and IP integration (years guidance moved to Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include RTL design, architecture definition, verification support, and collaboration with physical design and system teams.
- Develop RTL, write and run simulations for IP blocks and subsystems for SoC integration.
- Define architecture and microarchitecture features and ensure correct implementation.
- Optimize logic to meet power, performance, area, and timing targets while preserving implementation integrity.
- Review verification plans, investigate RTL test failures, and support validation of design features.
- Collaborate with physical design teams to resolve floorplan and integration constraints.
- Drive quality assurance and documentation to enable smooth IP-to-SoC handoff.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain knowledge.
- Proven RTL design and SystemVerilog experience (practical expertise expected; years guidance in Education Requirements).
- Familiarity with front-end design tool flow: synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), and lint checks.
- Experience with AMBA protocols and coherent protocols (examples: IDI, CHI).
- Solid understanding of hardware design concepts: logic design, state machines, and network-on-chip architectures.
- Ability to read and review verification plans and debug RTL test failures.
- Effective collaboration across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with high-speed interconnects and power-performance optimization.
- Scripting for automation (Python, Perl, or Tcl).
- Experience working on large SoC integration projects.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field with 6+ years of relevant RTL/SystemVerilog and IP integration experience; or Master's degree in a relevant field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
