Platform Hardware Design Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Data Center Platform Engineering hardware team. Develop and support platform solutions and reference designs for data center customers integrating CPUs, GPUs, NICs and related subsystems.

Work with global engineering teams to design, validate, and sustain customer platforms through full lifecycle activities including design-in, system bring-up, debugging, and deployment. This role requires on-site presence in Shanghai.

Experience Level

Entry-level (College graduate). Typically 0–3 years of relevant hardware or system design experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver and support data center platform hardware solutions and provide customer-facing design enablement.

• Define product architectures and critical technologies in partnership with customers and platform architects.
• Support customer platforms through design-in, system bring-up, debugging, validation, deployment, and sustaining phases.
• Perform system-level feasibility analyses: physical placement, thermal/mechanical considerations, board floor planning, and high-speed interface routing.
• Review customer schematics and PCB layouts and provide actionable design guidance.
• Lead and coordinate cross-organizational and geographically distributed teams to diagnose and resolve high-priority platform issues.
• Provide platform technology updates, technical training, and design consultation to customers and internal teams.
• Contribute to research, platform architecture definition, competitive analysis, and other innovation initiatives.

Requirements

• Must-have: Strong foundation in digital circuit design and familiarity with computer architecture.
• Must-have: Strong analytical, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Must-have: Effective written and verbal communication in Mandarin and English; ability to collaborate with customers and global teams.
• Must-have: Self-motivated, proactive, and able to contribute independently and in a team environment.
• Preferred: Experience with FPGA RTL design.
• Preferred: Hands-on experience in digital system or board-level hardware design.
• Preferred: Familiarity with x86 architecture and data center server and storage technologies.
• Preferred: Python experience for test automation, data analysis, or hardware debugging.
• Preferred: Experience applying prompt engineering or AI-assisted software development to hardware design, validation, debugging, or documentation automation.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
