Platform Equipment Field Installation and Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Platform Engineering and Development Group within KLA's Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit to support system operation, integration, calibration, diagnostics, installations and retrofit activities for platform semiconductor handling hardware.

The role involves on-site installations, commissioning, customer-facing application support, and design feedback to improve product reliability and serviceability across international fabs.

Experience Level

Mid-level (typical 3–7 years of relevant engineering experience or demonstrated equivalent capability).

Responsibilities

Deliver technical leadership for platform hardware from build and integration through field installation, validation and continuous improvement.

• Maintain and improve platform semiconductor handling hardware and related systems.
• Support new hardware designs through build, integration, fault-finding and PLC readiness.
• Lead installation, commissioning and technical resolution of new products at customer sites.
• Travel internationally (up to ~50%) to support critical customer engagements and resolve complex issues.
• Translate customer requirements and factory learnings into design improvements and technical responses.
• Define robust design specifications prioritising serviceability, reliability and maintainability.
• Ensure machine performance and compliance with relevant international standards.
• Lead hardware test strategy, validation planning and performance characterisation.
• Produce clear technical reports, support documentation and procedures to support decision-making and risk management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise hardware performance and customer readiness.

• Must-have: Strong electrical, electronic and mechanical knowledge; excellent analytical and fault-finding skills.
• Must-have: Experience working in a manufacturing environment with a focus on continuous improvement and safe working practices.
• Must-have: Ability to work autonomously and across time zones; strong organisation and composure under pressure.
• Must-have: Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience in customer-facing technical roles.
• Must-have: Familiarity with PLC systems and readiness for PLC integration/troubleshooting; ability to lead commissioning and diagnostics.
• Must-have: Valid driving licence and ability to travel internationally (short notice travel and multi-week visits possible).
• Nice-to-have: AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent; 3D CAD experience.
• Nice-to-have: Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Education Requirements

Minimum HNC in Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics (Higher National Certificate in a relevant engineering discipline).
