Platform Architecture Manager
Role Summary
Lead the Platform Workflow and Competitive Analysis (PWCA) team within Platform and Experience Architecture (PXA). Translate external insights from UX research, ecosystem partners, and competitive analysis into platform requirements and roadmap recommendations for client PC platforms.
Build and operate a multidisciplinary team that integrates research, data, and ecosystem inputs to enable fast, evidence-based architecture and roadmap decisions.
Experience Level

Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include team leadership, cross-functional integration, and translating research into actionable platform direction:
- Lead and scale the PWCA team to integrate UX research, ecosystem engagement, competitive analysis, workflow development, and data collection.
- Define and prioritize platform requirements driven by external insights and competitive findings.
- Establish a decision-making framework and operating model to align multidisciplinary projects and long-term research.
- Manage and mentor a 10β20 person team across varied technical and research disciplines.
- Represent the organization in external customer and partner meetings and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.
- Coordinate timing and inputs across IP, SoC, and platform development cycles to influence architecture and roadmap decisions.
Requirements

- Minimum 10 years working in the PC industry across hardware and software solutions.
- Proven experience managing mid-sized teams and operating in a highly matrixed environment.
- Strong working knowledge of user experience research methods and ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative insights into requirements.
- Proven experience conducting competitive analysis across products and semiconductor technologies and translating findings into roadmap recommendations.
- Deep knowledge of PC systems architecture (Compute, Display, Media, Graphics, IO, Storage, Memory, Networking) and associated software stacks.
- Deep expertise in performance metrics relevant to high-performance and personal computing.
- Ability to constrain broad research into concrete deliverables and recommendations for platform and product teams.
- Comfortable representing a large organization in external meetings with customers and partners.
- UX (ethnographic) experience through professional practice where applicable.
- Nice to have: experience improving team cohesion or productivity through AI tooling in knowledge-worker settings.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field is specified. UX research experience may be satisfied by education or by relevant work experience.
