PIC Test Lead
Xscape PhotonicsJob Title
PIC Test Lead
Role Summary
The PIC Test Lead owns wafer-level optical and electrical test strategy and execution across the product lifecycle, from first-silicon bring-up through high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
Works with design, process integration, foundries, and manufacturing to deliver scalable probe solutions, yield learning, and successful factory transfer.
Experience Level
Senior β 10+ years in PIC test engineering, wafer-level probing, or photonics manufacturing test.
Responsibilities
Lead technical strategy and execution for wafer-level PIC testing across product lines and technology nodes.
- Define wafer-level PIC test roadmap, release criteria, guard-banding, and test coverage models.
- Architect scalable, high-throughput optical and electrical wafer probe solutions that balance alignment accuracy, probe stability, and test time.
- Lead first-silicon bring-up, including test content definition, limit setting, characterization, and rapid yield-learning loops.
- Influence PIC DFT and PDK structures (on-chip monitors, loopbacks, test waveguides, calibration structures) to improve wafer-level scalability.
- Own wafer-level yield, parametric distributions, spatial analytics, and root-cause investigations for systematic process issues.
- Establish golden wafer/die methodologies, qualify probe infrastructure with foundries/OSATs, and drive transfer into HVM.
- Serve as technical escalation point, mentor junior engineers, and standardize test practices and infrastructure.
Requirements
Must-have and preferred skills for successful candidates.
- Must-have: 10+ years' experience in PIC test engineering, wafer-level probing, or photonics manufacturing test.
- Must-have: Proven ownership of wafer-level optical and electrical test strategy from R&D through HVM.
- Must-have: Expertise in wafer-level optical probing and probe card qualification.
- Must-have: Experience with yield learning, spatial analysis of wafer maps, and test-time optimization.
- Must-have: Experience engaging foundries and leading factory transfer and qualification of probe infrastructure.
- Must-have: Demonstrated ability to lead first-silicon bring-up and establish production test flows.
- Preferred: Experience with high-speed optical and electrical testing of PICs or optical transceivers.
- Preferred: Experience influencing PIC DFT and collaborating with PDK development teams.
- Preferred: Background in high-volume semiconductor or photonics manufacturing and scaling test infrastructure.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
